Upcycle Your World! Students Ditch Plastic for Change on International Plastic Bag Free Day

This International Plastic Bag Free Day on 3rd July 2024, OneEarth Foundation’s Sustainable Shores program, along with MakeMyTrip Foundation, empowered 438 enthusiastic students from Peter Alvares and Vidya Prasharak schools to beat single-use plastic pollution.

Swapping Single-Use for Smiles

Led by Shri. Umesh Gadekar, Sarpanch of Morjim Panchayat, the event saw students exchange single-use plastic bags for upcycled, reusable cloth bags. This fun and educational initiative highlighted the environmental impact of plastic and inspired young minds to embrace a sustainable future.

Creating Ripples of Change

Students actively participated, bringing their single-use plastic from home and taking a pledge to “say no” to plastic and “yes” to reusable alternatives.

OneEarth’s Commitment

With over 3500 students and citizens sensitized and close to 60 workshops conducted across Goa, OneEarth is a champion for mindful consumption and a plastic-free future. Their Centre for Circularity (C4C) gives a #CircularFuture to discarded plastics, transforming them into functional products.
